We are proud to have “Highly Commended” added to our list of accolades this week! This was part of the Mid-Sussex Applauds awards event. In the category Business in the Community Award winner – Recognising a business which supports or makes a positive contribution to benefit and enhance community life.
Thankyou to the Mid Sussex Voluntary Action (MVSA) for nominating us.
It’s fantastic to have this recognition, we are all very pleased.
We have been actively involved with many charities across Sussex over 20+ years. With our knowledge of the industry, we’ve enabled many to claim discounts for software and hardware with their charitable status. We also provide refurbished, affordable hardware, and assistance in acquiring affordable IT systems and access to technologies.
Some examples of the charities we have worked with –
Martlets Hospice, as their interim IT Support, and assisted with improving their internal helpdesk operations, including deploying antivirus software and offsite backup.
The Disability Trust engaged us to deploy commercial-grade wireless access throughout their various centres throughout England ensuring solid Wi-Fi for all their residents.
Locally, we have donated refurbished computers, monitors and other IT equipment where appropriate. We have worked with many local charities including Burgess Hill Lions, Burgess Hill Radio and Homestart Horsham.
For local charities we are always happy to offer advice and signposting.
We believe all charities deserve commercial service like any other business. We can offer advice, as well as assist with ongoing IT & telecoms requirements.
On another note, we were asked recently to deliver some presentations, by the teachers of The Extra Time Project, to present to their students in Brighton. The theme was Cybersecurity, and the presentation was geared around passwords, social engineering and Cyber awareness for these youngsters.
Based in Brighton, The Extra Time Project is aimed at KS3 pupils, years 7,8 & 9 and provides respite for pupils that are finding themselves falling into negative routines in their daily school lives.
The project has been extremely successful and continues to grow from strength to strength.
Part of ABCOM’s presentation was a real-time threat display. Basically, a world map, with arrows moving from one country to another. These represented the cyber-attacks, tracked by security organisations from all over the world. The attention of the audience was truly gripped, as it demonstrated so well the intensity, the ceaseless onslaught by the cyber criminals against the individual or business, Facebook or Instagram user.
We have used a similar real time map in presented to business associations. Repeatedly the effect is the same. The threat and real-time cyber war is incredible to see, live and in front of you.
The presentation also looked into how we need to safeguard our personal details, especially on social media platforms. It is so easy to give away personal and key information.
