Warning over antivirus software masking itself as malware

Warning over antivirus software masking itself as malware

This antivirus program caused some computers to stop working. Following an update, essential components of Panda Security antivirus programs became corrupted.

It was reported that Panda fixed the problems but warnings were released that rebooting affected systems could aggravate the issue. The important message here is not to turn their computer off and back on again, as this would be the wrong thing to do.

According to Panda Security the signature file in both its PCOP and its Retail 2015 packages became corrupted but repaired immediately and as a result there was no evidence anyone had experienced permanent data loss as a result of the issue.
