Cowork uses Copilot Credits, Microsoft’s pay-per-use currency for its more advanced AI features. Pay-as-you-go credits cost from around 1p each. Prices can vary, and pre-purchased credit packs can work out cheaper. How many credits a task uses depends on how long it runs, how much of your data it reads and how many actions it takes.
Your normal Copilot licence still covers Copilot Chat and Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. Admins can control spending in the Microsoft 365 admin centre under Copilot → Cost management. This is where you set organisation-wide and per-user limits, alerts and approval requests.
