What we do

Everything Microsoft 365, under one roof

Whether you are moving to Microsoft 365 for the first time, tidying up a tenant that has grown organically, or just want someone to call when things go wrong, we can help.

Licensing review and setup

We check which plans you are paying for, remove licences nobody uses, and make sure each person has the features they need, from Business Basic to Business Premium.

Migrations

Planned moves from Google Workspace, older Exchange servers, another Microsoft 365 tenant or on-site file shares, usually done out of hours so your team is not disrupted.

Security hardening

Multi-factor authentication for everyone, Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, safer email settings and regular Secure Score reviews, so a stolen password is not a disaster.

Teams and SharePoint

Teams, channels and SharePoint sites set up around how you actually work, with sensible permissions and external sharing that does not leak data.

Microsoft 365 backup

Microsoft keeps the service running, but deleted and overwritten data is only kept for a limited time. We add independent backup of mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams.

Day-to-day admin and support

New starters, leavers, shared mailboxes, password resets and "why isn't Outlook working" calls, handled by a local helpdesk that knows your setup.

Is your Microsoft 365 set up safely?

Most tenants we look at were set up quickly and never revisited. These are the gaps we find most often:

  • Multi-factor authentication is not enforced for every account.
  • Admin accounts are also used for everyday email and browsing.
  • Older sign-in methods are still allowed, which bypass modern protections.
  • No independent backup of email, OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • Mail forwarding rules quietly send copies of email outside the business.
  • Licences are still being paid for people who have left.

Cyber Essentials

A well-configured tenant is a big step towards Cyber Essentials

Multi-factor authentication, admin account separation and secure settings in Microsoft 365 cover a lot of what Cyber Essentials asks for. Devices, firewalls and software updates matter too, and we can help with all of it.

ABCOM is an NCSC Assured Service Provider – Cyber Advisor (Cyber Essentials).

That means we can help you get your Microsoft 365 setup, devices and policies ready for Cyber Essentials certification.

FAQs

Microsoft 365 questions answered

Which Microsoft 365 plan does my business need?

Most small businesses choose between Business Basic, Business Standard and Business Premium, which are designed for up to 300 users. Basic covers web and mobile apps with email and Teams, Standard adds the desktop Office apps, and Premium adds security features such as Intune device management, Conditional Access and Microsoft Defender for Business. We can mix plans so each person has what they need.

Do I need a separate backup for Microsoft 365?

We recommend it. Microsoft protects the service itself, but deleted or overwritten items are only kept for a limited period and ransomware or a mistake can affect your data. An independent backup lets us restore mailboxes, files and Teams data from a specific point in time.

How long does a migration to Microsoft 365 take?

It depends on the number of users and how much data you have. For a typical small business the planning and move take from a few days to a couple of weeks, with the final switch-over usually done in the evening or at a weekend.

Can you migrate us from Google Workspace?

Yes. We move email, calendars, contacts and files from Google Workspace into Exchange Online, OneDrive and SharePoint, and help staff get used to the new apps.

Can you take over support of our existing Microsoft 365 tenant?

Yes. With your permission we are given delegated admin access to your tenant, review how it is set up, and fix anything urgent before taking over day-to-day support.

Will email be down during the move?

We plan the switch-over so mail keeps flowing. There may be a short window while DNS changes take effect, which is why we schedule it outside working hours and check everything afterwards.

Does Microsoft 365 make us Cyber Essentials compliant?

Not on its own. A well-configured tenant covers important controls such as multi-factor authentication and admin account separation, but Cyber Essentials also covers your devices, firewalls, software updates and malware protection.
