Short answer: old laptops, servers and phones can hold years of client files, emails and saved passwords, so data destruction is the most important part of IT recycling. We wipe or physically destroy storage in a controlled process, record every device, and give you paperwork to prove it was done.
How the process protects your data
- Audit and collectWe list the equipment, agree what is leaving and collect it securely.
- Log each assetSerial numbers are recorded so nothing goes missing on the way.
- Erase or destroy the storageDrives are securely wiped where they can be reused, and physically destroyed where they cannot.
- Confirm and certifyYou receive a record showing which devices were processed and how.
- Reuse or recycleOnce the data is gone, the hardware is reused or recycled responsibly.
Wipe or destroy: which is right?
| Method | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Secure erase | Working drives you may want to reuse or resell | Overwrites the data; verified afterwards |
| Physical destruction | Faulty drives, highly sensitive data, end-of-life media | Data cannot be recovered once the drive is shredded |
| Both together | Mixed batches | Wipe first where possible, then destroy whatever cannot be wiped |
