What is a GDAP?

Granular delegated admin permissions (GDAP) give Microsoft partners access to their customers’ workloads in a more granular and time-bound way, which can help address customer security concerns.

Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP) is like giving someone a special key to open just one door in your big, secure castle. Imagine you have a computer system with lots of important information, like treasure in your castle. You want to let someone help you, but you don’t want to give them access to everything.

GDAP lets you do that. It’s a special tool that helps you share access to specific parts of your computer system without giving away all your secrets. So, if you have a friend or a worker who needs to help you with some tasks, you can use GDAP to give them permission to only do those tasks and nothing else.

And here’s a cool thing: GDAP makes sure that this special access only lasts for a limited time, like two years at most, so you can control who has access to your castle and for how long. It’s all about keeping your digital kingdom safe and secure!

With GDAP, partners can provide more services to customers who may be uncomfortable with the high levels of partner access.

GDAP also helps customers with regulatory requirements and provides only the least-privileged access to partners.
