You can keep your existing phone numbers when you move to Horizon hosted telephony. Your numbers are transferred (“ported”) from your current provider, and you can add extra numbers, including local numbers for other areas, at the same time.
How number porting works
- We check your numbers and confirm they can be ported, using a recent bill from your current provider.
- You sign a letter of authority allowing the transfer.
- We set up and test your new Horizon system before the switch.
- On the agreed date, your numbers move across. Calls start ringing on the new system, usually with little or no interruption.
How long does it take?
A simple port of a single number often takes around one to two weeks. Multi-line numbers and number ranges can take longer. We’ll give you a target date once the port request is accepted.
Important: don’t cancel your old service yet
Keep your existing phone line or service active until the port has completed. If you cancel first, the number can be lost. We’ll tell you when it’s safe to cancel.
The UK digital switchover
Traditional copper phone lines (PSTN and ISDN) are being switched off across the UK. Moving to a hosted system like Horizon now means your numbers are ready for the switch.
