What changes to Microsoft Copilot billing happen in November 2026?

From 2 November 2026, new Microsoft 365 Copilot Business licences bought through a Microsoft partner (CSP) will have usage-based billing switched on by default. Microsoft will set a default spending limit of around £8 per user per month for features like Cowork. Microsoft sets the limit in US dollars, so the exact figure in pounds can vary.

This does not mean every Copilot chat costs extra. Everyday Copilot use is still covered by the licence. Only advanced features that use credits count towards the limit. We recommend reviewing that default limit before November, and we can set it for you.
